Our Why & How

Our Mission

Our mission is to create innovative, child-focused spaces that foster self-inquiry and “un-learning” of traditional perspectives. By cultivating safe and nurturing environments, we aim to foster harmony within families while inspiring a generation that is emotionally and socially aware, resilient, and grounded in wholesome morals and values.

Our Why

Originally serving the youth and disability sectors within the Western Australian Community Services framework, a growing awareness of the limitations and lack of innovation in government-led education and support systems for families sparked a journey of reflection and a call for change.

Benji Weirheim

Bringing a wealth of expertise and diverse talents to Wholesome Family Supports, since 2016, Benji has worked in Australia’s Community Services sector, supporting children, youth, and families. With a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, Benji has also worn various creative hats: he’s been a Kundalini Yoga & Meditation teacher (since 2019), retreat facilitator, former tour manager for a well-known Australian children’s entertainment group, performed internationally in a blockbuster stage show as a stuntman, and a music-based workshop facilitator who has inspired thousands of children since 2015. Additionally, his experience leading wellness and mens retreats, and personal experience of the limitations of the traditional system deepened his commitment to holistic family support.

Driven by a vision to make a meaningful impact and realising that traditional frameworks would make this difficult, Benji took the leap to establish Wholesome Family Supports, where he now channels his skills and passion into creating transformative experiences for children families.

In 2015, Benji embarked on his career in the Australian Community Services sector as a Youth, Family, and Disability Support Worker. Over time, he broadened his expertise through diverse studies, training, and holistic roles, including Rites of Passage Camp Facilitator, Kundalini Yoga Teacher, Shamanic Retreat Facilitator, and Men’s Retreat Facilitator. Each of these experiences was driven by his vision to step out of the system by combining his professional and personal insights into a holistic approach to supporting others. This took on even greater depth with the transformative journey of becoming a father—a life-altering experience that turned his understanding of himself and the world upside down in the most profound ways—further motivating him to create meaningful change for families and children.

With a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre/Acting and Screen Production, Benji’s earlier career saw him performing in various screen productions and touring internationally with renowned stage productions as an Actor, Technician, Tour Manager, and Stuntman (you could say he just “fell into” that last one). Over the years, he has expanded his expertise through diverse areas of study, training, and more holistic roles including Rites of Passage Camp Facilitator, Kundalini Yoga Teacher, Shamanic Retreat Facilitator, and Men’s Retreat Facilitator. Each project has been guided by his vision to integrate his professional and personal experiences into a holistic approach to support others. This profoundly shaped by the transformative journey of becoming a father, prompting deep reflection on what truly matters in his life and the world, culminating in further his commitment to creating meaningful change for families and children.

Driven by a vision to make a meaningful impact and realising that traditional frameworks would make this difficult, Benji took the leap to establish Wholesome Family Supports, where he now channels his skills and passion into creating transformative experiences for children and families.
