Our Why

Originally serving the youth and disability sectors within the Western Australian Community Services framework, a growing awareness of the limitations and lack of innovation in government-led education and support systems for families sparked a journey of reflection and a call for change.

It was found that the challenges faced by caregivers and children—particularly those living with disabilities—highlighted the need for something new. This inspired a holistic approach that goes beyond conventional education and family life models, with a unique feature of our offering being the integration of funding from the Australian National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), allowing participants and their families to access and benefit from our service. This vision culminated in the establishment of Wholesome Family Supports, dedicated to bridging the gap through the creation of the Ubud Family Experience.

Through collaborative discussions with Bali-based stakeholders and planning to address the complexities of coordinating international family travel, the Ubud Family Experience was born. This transformative programe provides families with a chance to step away from conventional systems and modes of thought, empowering both caregivers and children to embrace personal and family growth in a supportive, nature-aligned environment. By fostering cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual/moral development, the program lays a solid foundation for families to thrive in an ever-changing world.
